A woman was rushed to hospital after a horror fall through a hole in Blackpool’s Central Pier prompting the site to be evacuated.
The unidentified victim dropped below the pier amid fears from onlookers that she might not have survived the fall. Details of her injuries remain unclear so far, despite her being taken to hospital.
Emergency teams comprising of cops, medics, and firefighters raced to the scene around 4:30pm. Following the incident, the pier was promptly shut down and the public evacuated, while emergency workers took care of the woman.

Beach-goers witnessed the horror unfold, including one dad who told Manchester Evening News: “I was walking the beach with my kids and heard a thud. A huge thud next to me nearly on top of my head.”
“A lady ploughed to the floor, smashing through the Central Pier. I was absolutely terrified… I thought she was dead.”
Those at the scene, reports the Mirror, could only look on as help arrived urgently for the woman.
Beach patrol experts were also on the scene, tasked with tending the damage on the pier’s woodwork. The full extent of her wounds is yet to be released.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson reported: “We have received a report of a woman having fallen through a section of the pier in Blackpool at around 4.30pm today.
“The woman has been taken to hospital with injuries. The pier is currently closed.”
