A hugely popular chain of bars has closed 11 branches with immediate effect, while another 25 will be chopped before the end of the year.
Revolution bars have been a high street mainstay for decades, offering relatively cheap booze to students wrapped up in a slightly classier joint than usual. However, having bit hard by the cost-of-living crisis, pandemic backlash and more, parent company Revolution Bars Group has confirmed that yesterday was the last day in business for 11 venues – with another 25 to close before the year ends.
That will leave it with just 27 Revolution Bars, 15 Revolucion de Cuba bars, 22 Peach Pubs and one Founders & Co site – it did have 89 sites at the start of the year.

It follows news that the company was going to restructure in a bid to face off a full closure of the entire business earlier this year.
The sites that closed over the weekend were:
-
Blackpool
-
Chester
-
Deansgate Locks, Manchester
-
Edinburgh, Scotland
-
Inverness, Scotland
-
Leadenhall
-
Loughborough
-
Norwich
-
Hockley, Nottingham
-
Stafford
-
King Street, Wigan
The list of sites about to close has not yet been confirmed. Chief executive Rob Pitcher said earlier this year: “The group is now well diversified across the key brands, providing a more secure financial base and we look forward to the future with improved optimism.
“We know this has been a very difficult period for all of our teams both in our sites and in our support office and I’d like to thank them for their support and resilience.”
Despite a move in 2016 to stay away from the student market, most locations were still in student areas and the pivot towards the gastropub-type audience has seemingly not worked out in the way bosses had wanted.
