Spain ace Alvaro Morata proclaims shock break up from spouse Alice Campello

  • Alvaro Morata and Alice Campello have split seven years after getting married
  • The Spain captain and his Italian wife both published statements on Monday
  • Morata and Campello both insisted that their break up was not the result of infidelity or ‘any kind of disrespect’

Former Chelsea and Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata and his wife Alice Campello have separated after seven years of marriage.

Morata confirmed their split on Monday in an Instagram post that read: ‘After some time of reflection, Alice and I have made the decision to part ways. A WONDERFUL and RESPECTFUL reciprocal relationship where we have loved and helped each other a lot.

‘They have been wonderful years and the result of them is our four children, who are undoubtedly the best thing we have ever done.

‘It is a painful decision so we ask for respect and empathy. Do not invent stories for a minute of prominence because I repeat: there has never been any lack of respect, only many continuous misunderstandings that little by little wear things down.

‘Alice will always have a special place in my heart and everything we have experienced together has been incredible and a great learning’.

Meanwhile, Campello wrote: ‘Alvaro and I have decided to separate, and it is the most difficult decision we have ever made in our lives. I want to make it clear, as he has, that there have been no third parties or any kind of disrespect from either of us.

‘I can only say that in these 8 years, I have had a person by my side who has done nothing but prioritise me, take care of me, and respect me, and for that reason, I cannot allow any kind of false speculation and the decision to announce it “so soon”.

‘I don’t want you to think that anything you have seen in the Instagram photos we’ve been posting is a lie. We couldn’t have loved each other more, and we continue to do so, but there comes a time when many misunderstandings accumulate, are poorly managed, and things gradually deteriorate and explode.

‘We have always promised each other to respect everything we have lived through, to never reach the point of hurting each other or being toxic, and to end things before that happens, and that is what we’ve done.

‘I just want to thank Alvaro for everything he has done for me, for how he has taken care of me, for being the father and husband he has been, and to wish him the best ALWAYS.’

Confirmation of their split comes less than a month after the pair were spotted kissing on a beach during a family holiday in Sardinia.

Campello was also pictured by her husband’s side after he captained Spain to victory in the final of Euro 2024 on July 14.

However, Campello did not go with Morata when he recently travelled to northern Italy to join his new AC Milan team-mates.

Morata, who moved to Milan after two seasons at Atletico Madrid, was spotted without his wedding ring as he signed shirts for Milan fans.

Campello, an Italian influencer, has since removed her husband’s name from all of her social media bios.

She changed her name online from ‘Alice Campello Morata’ back to ‘Alice Campello’.

Morata had dedicated each and every one of his goals to his partner in recent years, with his trademark ‘A’ celebration becoming well known by fans.

Morata and Campello married in June 2017, shortly before he moved to Chelsea from Real Madrid.

They share three sons, including twins, and one daughter.
