Now, many trouble-makers – like Honey – are making their way through the courts and facing jail time, with law-abiding people keen to see them served justice.

In a string of viral memes on social media one user shared a picture of Mr Honey in Hull along with the caption: “Taking back his country one Gingerbread man at a time.”

On X, another user shared pictures of him emerging from several shops with his haul wearing a distinctive top bearing the St George cross.

They posted: “I want to take my country back’.. What by looting some gingerbread men from Greggs, some bath bombs from Lush and a screen protector from O2?

“Yep that’ll do it. Honestly the brains of some people in this country.”

Another commented: “Gee-whiz that Saint George’s Cross hasn’t done him any favours he’s impossible to miss.”
