‘I discovered probably the most distinctive muscle remedy gadget round – it has modified my life’

‘m old – OK, I’m not that old but I, like everyone else over 30 in this country, feel old.

The memes about bones creaking and and muscle aching constantly are based in reality. So when I was offered the chance to try three products that could potentially help stop me from feeling twice my age (which I won’t divulge here) I jumped . . . slowly . . . at the chance.

Two devices were what you’d expect, by way of the Hyperice Hypervolt Go 2 massage gun and the Bob and Brag mini massage gun. But I was also allowed to test drive to new Kineon Move +Pro red light therapy device.

All three were impressive, and all three had their faults – but only one has left me truly raving about the future of these kinds of devices.

This is not my shoulder, but this is where I used it . . . and it works

Kineon Move + Pro LED & Laser – 9/10

When I was offered an “enhanced light therapy device” to try out, I wasn’t immediately comfortable with it. There are horror stories of therapy such as this going wrong. However, this is FDA cleared, recommended by Good Housekeeping, Gear Patrol and Financial Times, and promises to be “safe and non-invasive”.

And spoiler alert, this is the device that has left me truly raving, as I mentioned earlier. I’ll start with the price and the one fault – it’s £480, and the set-up instructions aren’t totally clear about how to adjust the straps to fit around where it needs to go.

I was offered on-boarding, but chose not to as I didn’t want this review to be influenced in any way.

So, what exactly is the science behind it? Well, the team at Kineon explain it well enough: “Laser therapy uses a concentrated beam of light that is focused on one specific area of the body to treat pain relief issues, without the spread or wastage of LED panels. Compared to LED light therapy, laser therapy can penetrate deeper into the tissue to reach a depth of around five to six cm which means it’s ideal for treating deep-seated pain, like Osteoarthritis and cartilage damage.”

Now, this isn’t me bleating on about a miracle device, but I had had pain in my right bicep for weeks – one use of the Kineon for just five minutes and it was gone . . . I kid you not. No side effects, not reoccurrence – nothing. I was suddenly pain free.

If you’re a sports fanatic, or if you have muscle and joint pain, I can not recommend this device more highly. Yes, it’s pricey, but it’s a long-term investment product. How often do you go to a physio for a 10-session course, and then return six months later for more?

Why not try something different instead . . .

Hyperice Hypervolt Go 2 – 8/10

Who doesn’t love a good pummelling, hey?

This is a cracking device

They Hyperice Hypervolt Go 2 is priced at a reasonable £129 on Amazon, has three speeds and two unique interchangeable heads.

It’s simple to use straight out of the box, really does give you the feeling that you’re having a professional massage therapist work you over, and I can honestly say that the muscle aches I had previously had have now gone – while others I’ve tried it on have also instantly felt relief from the aches and pains of every day life.

It’s a very well-built product, and feels far more premium than the price suggests – my only negative is that sometimes the attachments do fall out if you’ve not secured quite enough.

Putting that to one side, this is now a go-to device in the Cailler household, and one I can see being used by friends and family on a regular basis (their own one, obviously . . . this is mine).

Bob and Brad mini massage gun – 7.5/10

The perfect travel partner

If you want to be pummelled on holiday or in the gym and don’t want a device like the one above in your bag, then the Bob and Brag mini massage gun is the one for you. Although it’s priced at £99, and is smaller than the Hyperice, it has extra functions that would definitely come in handy in the gym.

It’s unique cold and hot therapy add-ons give the unit something you can’t often find on the market, and will sorely need after a tough workout. It comes with a solid travel case, and four other attachments for every part of your body.

It also only ways 0.95lb, which makes it a great addition to your gym gear. And the last feature is that it has five adjustable speeds, whereas most devices like this only have three.

The only reason it loses points for me is that I didn’t find the built quality as premium as the cheaper device reviewed above, yet it costs more. But putting that aside, gym fanatics, this is the device for you.
