School of Mike Lynch’s daughter, 18, desparate for information following yacht sinking

“Incredibly shocked” staff at the school of Hannah Lynch, 18, are waiting for updates on their missing ex-pupil after she was aboard the doomed Bayesian yacht.

It sunk at around 4am off the northern coast of Sicily on Monday (August 19), with six people still missing following freak bad weather capsized it. The massive 56–metre vessel had 22 onboard in total, and while 15 have been safely rescued, efforts are still underway to find Hannah and her tech billionaire father Mike Lynch, known as the British Bill Gates.

The London Latymer School in Hammersmith told the Evening Standard: “We are all incredibly shocked by the news that Hannah and her father are among those missing in this tragic incident and our thoughts are with their family and everyone involved as we await further updates.”

The £25,000-a-year Latymer Upper School in Hammersmith has in the past been attended by the likes of Alan Rickman, Hugh Grant and Heston Blumenthal.



Hannah has been described as a ‘supernova’ by friends

Hannah is understood to be the youngest of Mr Lynch’s two daughters, the same outlet reports. As per The Times, she was soon to study English at Oxford having recently finished her A-levels.

Her friends have called her a “supernova” it has been reported.

Bayesian had been anchored for the night around half a mile off the coast of Palermo when they were caught in the hellish weather, a tornadic waterspout, which snapped the 75-metre mast and capsized the boat.

The yacht, owned by Mr Lynch’s wife, is understood to have sunk in around 60 seconds, with those not yet feared at this stage feared dead.

Hannah’s mother, Angela Bacares, was among 11 people dragged to safety on a small inflatable life raft.
