A clip of Jermaine Jenas chatting about “securing the coin” has gone viral on social media.
Jenas, 41, was axed by the BBC amid claims of “inappropriate behaviour”. The ex-midfield’s exit is linked to “workplace conduct,” with rumours that digital messages were flagged up to higher-ups a few weeks back.
The ex-Premier League star said there are “two sides to every story” and he’s leaving it to his lawyers to “deal with it”, when addressing the sacking on talkSPORT.

And amid the sacking, a video believed to be posted by him last year has been doing the rounds online. It’s been shared like wildfire this week, with one tweet showing the footage racking up a whopping 4 million views.
In the video, Jenas can be seen relaxing in his garden, saying: “There’s times when you’ve been out all week busy, working hard, securing the coin,” reports the Mirror. The ex-Prem star is referring to making money or, as he calls it, “coin”.

Jenas then repeats the word “coin” while gazing skywards: “Only certain man know what I’m talking about when it comes to securing the coin. But you just feel like you’ve earned it, you feel like you deserve it.”
The 41-year-old then takes a swig of his pint, adding: “Go on then, go on… Lovely drop that, lovely drop.”
The vid wraps up with Jermaine panning the camera over to a pooch. The Daily Mail reports that a clip, originally shared on Jermaine Jenas’ Instagram story back in February 2023, has been raising eyebrows with its “strange” and “bizarre” vibe.
The footage, thought to be an imitation of TikTok star snowydangernew, left some viewers puzzled, with one asking, “What is this by Jermaine Jenas?” Yet, others defended the star, insisting he was “clearly doing an impression” and just “It’s called having a laugh.”
And some cheeky fans added: “No more ‘coin coin coin coin’ for Jermaine Jenas then!”
Addressing his BBC sacking, Jenas said: “Look, I can’t really talk about it. I, as you can probably see, I am not happy about it. But currently, as it stands, I’m going to have to let the lawyers deal with it. You know, there’s two sides to every story, as we know. So that’s all I can say right now.”
A BBC spokesperson confirmed to the Mirror: “We can confirm that he is no longer part of our presenting lineup.”
BBC staff were reportedly stunned by the sudden departure, with reports indicating that director of sport Alex Kay-Jelski sent an email at 3.39pm on Thursday stating: “I wanted to let you know that Jermaine Jenas is no longer working for the BBC.”
A source described the communication as “It was brutally short and to the point. It felt like there was no messing around.”
