Cats throw a hissy match in the event that they see their homeowners kissing and hate ‘child speak’

One in three pet cats get angry when their owners are kissed by other people, a poll has found. Researchers found 34% of moggies go silently psycho when someone else gives their owner a kiss.

There are 11 million pet cats in the UK meaning 3.7million get angry when their owner has a quick cuddle. Public displays of affection are too much for the aloof creatures according to a poll of 2,000 pet owners with 32% disliking them.

Another 32% of cats are irritated by being made to play with balloons and being spoken to like a baby. A spokesperson for health test brand Labrador, that did the survey, said: “It is not just humans who get annoyed.

“Random kissing by other people really gets to cats according to their owners.” The study also found 41% of both cats and dogs get angry when forced to visit the vets.

Studies have shown cats are territorial and get angry and will fight with other cats and dogs if they tread on their turf. But they also get aggressive when over-petted or played with for too long by humans.
