Olympic ace Alysha Newman has told her hater “just don’t support me” after outlining she won’t change.
The Canadian pole vaulter won a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris this summer, producing a twerking celebration that went viral on social media after her last vault. The 30-year-old also has an OnlyFans account where she charges fans £10-per-month to have to opportunity to interact with her and access her content – both professional and spicy.
After completing her final jump, Newman got up off the mat and ran towards her supporters, joking she had injured herself before breaking out into a quick twerk celebration that lasted mere seconds. While there were plenty who enjoyed the Canadian’s celebration inside the Stade de France, Newman drew some criticism for her twerking antics.

However, speaking exclusively to Daily Star Sport, Newman vowed that she had no intention of changing how she operates.
Newman said: “Obviously you see tweets and comments but I’ve been so maybe mentality trained with my neurologist and my sports psych and I’m so mentally tough that a lot of times – and what I’ve been working on myself, when I get angry or mad, or I have a comment or a judgement – it’s kind of more of a reflection of me If I’m judging somebody then actually that person.

“It’s an insecurity that I’m bringing upon the internet because I feel insecure about this topic. So, I remembered that and I’ve done so much training that, ‘ok, you have a comment and you didn’t like it, I can’t make everyone happy’.
“That the type of energy I bring and I’m not going to change who I am to make you happy if you don’t agree with my life and just don’t support me.”
Newman also added she had received plenty of compliments in the aftermath of her Paris celebrations.
She added: “There’s so many amazing athletes that maybe are intertwined with how you think life should be so follow them! But I got so many followers and so many people who DM’ed and messaged me nothing but positives and saying thank you for entertaining all of us.
“They’re like ‘women’s pole vault has never been so entertaining ever’. There’s going to always be backlash when you do things in life and this just happened to be one of those things.”
