Craig David surprised Notting Hill Carnival revellers with an unexpected street performance on Sunday.

The event takes place every year on the August bank holiday weekend and the  garage star, 43, delighted those heading for the day out.

In a video he shared on Instagram, the singer took over the mic to perform his classic 2000 hit 7 Days.

David captioned the post: ‘When 7 Days meets Taxi Riddim. As soon as I heard that sound system my inner child took over and in that moment I knew exactly the assignment.’

He was seen walking down the street at first when he noticed a small stand with a mic and headed over to begin singing.

A small crowd soon gathered around him as people began to realise that it was a famous face singing and many began to video him.

Fans were quick to show their shock at the impromptu performance as they wrote under his post: ‘Bro If I see Craig just vibing on the street like that…wtf.’,

‘Aw how cool is this vibe …. Saweeeeet!!!’,

‘Okkkk I think we need a whole album in this vibe sir…’,

‘Yoooooo this crazy.’

It comes after earlier this summer Craig revealed that he has been celibate for two years as he took a step back from intimacy to ‘heal his own issues’.

The singer said the break from sexual activity has been ‘good vibes’ as he has managed to avoid a lot ‘drama’ in the past 48 months.

He also admitted that, without the distraction of intimacy, his creative sparks have been electrifying his production in the studio.

‘It has been really good for me because man, the studio music, the creativity, it’s like, no drama just vibes!’, he told The TMZ Podcast .

‘I know to the date, It’s been two years now for me [without sex]. But in a funny way, much as I was like ‘Wow!’ to myself for the moment, [my] creativity has been on a 100, on a max, for those two years.’

He revealed he had gone celibate in June 2023 after previously boasting about his sex life in the hit 2000 single 7 Days.

Craig, who was known for his womanising ways, confessed that he is a changed man and is not currently dating.

The singing sensation, who boasted of ‘making love by Wednesday, and then on Thursday, and Friday and Saturday’ in his hit single, revealed he has not had a romp for ‘maybe a year or so’.

Speaking to Louis Theroux on his podcast, the British songwriter said one-night stands can lead to ‘many different traumas’.

The Rise And Fall singer admitted that he hoped the sex break will allow him to mentally get prepared to meet his next girlfriend as he wants to start a relationship from ‘a good place’.

He told The Louis Theroux Podcast: ‘I realised that me not having healed my own issues meant I was never in a position to be open to someone else.

‘So I realised I had to pull back from all of this and this has been the past couple of years really.

‘Which does mean not outwardly going on dates, the sexual interactions are going to have to stop now, just cut that off.’

Sometimes you gotta pull it back, man. I’m 42 years old now, things are different’, he added.

If we can’t deep dive, if I can’t have a conversation and at the same time laugh like crazy with you, and see the beauty from within you, then we’re just gonna be doing the same game that I’ve been playing since day one.

‘I don’t want that anymore.’

Previously Craig enjoyed a number of short-term relationship in his 20s and 30s.
