Premier League cult hero appears to be like unrecognisable as he is noticed cliff leaping

A Premier League cult hero looked unrecognisable after he was spotted cliff jumping in Croatia by a fan.

Loic Remy had grown out his dreadlocks, leaving him looking drastically different to his time on these shores. Remy, 37, has turned out for QPR, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Chelsea in the Premier League.

The fan, who shared the snap on X (formerly known as Twitter), said: “Met Loic Remy (right) cliff jumping in Split yesterday afternoon, lovely bloke, said Newcastle was the best club he played for in England and that he loved SJP and the fans!”

“What a player, was devastated when we didn’t sign him permanently,” one fan said. While a second replied: “Ignoring the obvious silliness of putting (right), I think Loic Remy is the coolest man on earth!”

“Haven’t heard that name in a while man, Loic Remy a baller from when we were teenagers man,” a third responded. And another added: “I haven’t heard this name in forever. This guy was supposed to be the next Thierry Henry!”

Remy announced his retirement from football last October, after he spent a season with French side Brest. The Frenchman had spent four years in the Prem, before leaving in 2017 for a nomadic end to his career.

The striker turned out for the likes of Las Palmas, Getafe, Lille, Çaykur Rizespor, Adana Demirspor, and, of course, Brest.

Speaking on Prime Video, he explained: “After careful consideration, I made the decision to stop with all my injuries over the last six months.”

Remy, who had been training with boyhood side Lyon, added: “The body has its limits even if there will always be a lack. It’s a wise decision. There is life after football, kids.”
