Manchester City considered a move for Icelandic striker Orri Oskarsson to replace Julian Alvarez.
Pep Guardiola’s side have been left thin on the ground up top after the Argentine World Cup winner jumped ship to Atletico Madrid. And Guardiola considered a swoop for Copenhagen striker Oskarsson, 19.
According to The Athletic, City are firm admirers of the Icelander – and he looks set to depart Copenhagen before the summer transfer window closes later this week. He was high on City’s hit list, that also included Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi.

Oskarsson made his senior debut for semi-professional Icelandic club Grótta at just 13-years-old, netting twice, and his talents quickly attracted interest from mainland Europe. With Copenhagen snapping him up in 2022.
The Icelander spent a season on loan with Sønderjyske before bursting onto the scene last season, scoring 16 goals in 45 appearances for the Danish giants.

Oskarsson turned out against Guardiola’s side in the Champions League‘s Round of 16 last season – where his side were dumped out 6-2 on aggregate.
It is anticipated the Icelandic international will leave for around €20million (£16.9m) before the transfer window slams shut. While City have emerged as a potential destination, it is unlikely he will move to the Etihad Stadium this summer.
The report adds that there are other Premier League teams pursuing Oskarsson, while the likes of Porto and Real Sociedad are also in the frame for his signature.
Despite Haaland being the only recognised senior striker, City have started the season in scintillating form – netting six goals in their opening two games (against Chelsea and Ipswich).
