Meghan Markle has said that donning luxury clothing and accessories is “one of the most powerful things” she can do.
The Duchess of Sussex has put as lot of graft into attempting to position herself as a figurehead for human rights and feminism, as well as a media mogul, business entrepreneur and all-round aspirational icon.
She spoke about what holds women back in her cancelled Archetypes podcast, shot down the Royal Family in her explosive Oprah Winfrey interview, struck multi-million deals with Spotify and Netflix, and at some point, her luxury lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, will soon get off the ground.

She even adopted Nigeria as her home country on her and Harry’s recent tour to the African country, which was a slammed royal tour in all but name.
Yet, despite all this, the 43-year-old believes her earrings weld all her power, saying she uses her public profile to big up her designer friends and brands she likes.
In a recent interview with The New York Times, the mum-of-two said: “Times where I know there is a global spotlight, and attention will be given to each detail of what I may or may not be wearing, then I support designers that I have really great friendships with, and smaller, up-and-coming brands that haven’t gotten the attention that they should be getting.
“That’s one of the most powerful things that I’m able to do, and that’s simply wearing, like, an earring.”
Writing in The Telegraph, royal commentator Camilla Tominey dined out on the comment, writing: “Really? Whatever happened to… ‘Shaping the future through business and philanthropy’? Or even her short life as a member of the Royal Family, apparently spent dedicated to public service?”
She claims Meghan’s comment indicated “just how fast the Sussexes have fallen”, adding: “Meghan’s pretentions towards charity have been supplanted by more important concerns. Her new ‘advocacy work’ is for herself and her famous friends.
