Wetherspoon pubs reduce costs on food and drinks – learn the way a lot it can save you

Wetherspoon is set to slash prices on food and drink in a one-day-only deal. Every year the pub chain celebrates Tax Equality Day.

Boss Tim Martin has long championed the cause, which aims to highlight the benefit of a permanent VAT reduction in the hospitality industry. September 12 will see customers offered a 7.5% reduction on their favourite meals and booze.

It means a large breakfast usually priced at £9.99 will be available for just £9.25, saving punters 74p. A pint of Bud Light, meanwhile, will have 33p knocked off the price, costing £4.09.

Wetherspoon prices can vary across the UK, so the exact discount may differ depending on the location. For people in Scotland, the deal applies only to food and non-alcoholic drinks, according to the pub chain.

To find your nearest Wetherspoon and see what savings are on offer, you can use the locator tool on their website or app. Simply enter your location or postcode and it will show you the closest boozer.

Wetherspoon, or JD Wetherspoon, has about 850 pubs across the UK and Ireland. It was founded by Martin in 1979.

The chain recently opened its latest pub in London. The Lion & the Unicorn, at Waterloo Station, will open on Tuesday September 3 after £2.8 million was ploughed in to create 70 new jobs.

Despite a number of Wetherspoon pubs giving up leases in recent months, bosses are committed to taking their number of boozers up to 1,000 as part of a long term goal.
