Gordon Ramsay’s £19 English breakfast ‘no higher than service station’

Brits have scoffed at the price of an English breakfast served at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant.

Despite the dish being made up of just eight items, Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen is charging hungry diners a cool £19 in what’s been slammed as ‘daylight robbery’.

If that’s a bit steep for you though, tuck into some porridge for the bargain price of £8.50. Porridge. Then for just £4.50 you can wash the oats down with a cuppa. If that wasn’t enough, the breakfast menu states a discretionary 15% service charge will be added to the final bill.

Silvio Tattiscone couldn’t bottle up his outrage after ordering the breakfast at one of restaurants. The chain has six locations in London and others in Liverpool and Edinburgh.

The breakfast includes one sausage, beans, one hash brown, one mushroom, one poached egg, two slices of bacon, and one tomato. Silvio commented: “Bread Street Kitchen, a Gordon Ramsay restaurant, yours for £19.”

But fry-up fans were less than impressed, as reported by What’s the Jam.

One disgruntled diner said: “Our local cafe and sandwich shop gives you double that for half that price.”

Another added: “£5.50 in Morrisons and you get toast.”

Alistair joked: “I did better back when I was a Little Chef through college.”

Stella Doves compared it to buying a designer label, calling it a “complete rip off.”

Jane Pounder decided: “Wow. I’ll make my own.”

Jules exclaimed: “Bloody hell. You could do a week’s shop at Aldi for that and feel fuller.”

Another likened it to a motorway service station breakfast. However, one person did give credit where it’s due, saying: “At least Mr Ramsay remembered the baked beans.”

Positive reviews can be found on Tripadvisor, however, with one person praising their experience of the Liverpool restaurant last month.

They wrote: “Wow! The food was amazing but we honestly enjoyed some of the best service we have ever experienced. This was like a Michelin star experience on a family budget.”

Another said: “Went for a family meal whilst shopping in the area, sat outside and amazing terrace. Weather was hot but still enjoyed sitting outside. Great offering with the kids eat free especially during the school holiday. Will go back soon.”
