British climate to ‘go blue’ as ‘advanced jet stream’ plunges UK to wintery depth

British weather is set for a shocking 10C temperature nosedive as summer bids a sudden farewell, warn meteorological boffins.

The colour-coded weather charts are now awash with cool blue and yellow shades, signalling the swift arrival of autumn. Met Office experts are alerting to an “unsettled” opening act for September, forecasting “further thunderstorms” to jolt parts of southern England in the imminent days.

Only this past Sunday, sun lovers gloried in scorching highs of 30C, with West Sussex stealing the spotlight as one of the hottest spots. Cambridge and Wellesbourne weren’t far behind, enjoying 29C and 25C respectively in the weekend rays.

Yet, prepare for a sharp shift weather gurus at WXCharts predict some regions will shiver in an 11C drop by Wednesday, September 11. The same spots that luxuriated in 30C heat are in for a shake-up; Wiggonholt goes from sizzling to a breezy 19C, while Cambridge thermometer readings plummet a staggering 14C to just 15C.

Arctic blasts are prepped to swoop down across Britain next week, hurling temperatures downwards. Netweather forecasters are flagging this cool trends onset as imminent, reports the Mirror.

To quote Netweather’s digital forecast: “Cooler air from the northwest moves over more of the UK by Wednesday morning. A low centre associated with the showers over Scotland on Tuesday will pull down to the Irish Sea by Wednesday morning.

“There will be further showers and bright spells around the low with a distinct nip in the air for southern Scotland and Cumbria. Many parts of the UK should have a fair start to Wednesday with sunny spells and light winds. Western coasts of Britain and Northern Ireland will have a cool, light breeze.

“Further showers will break out across the UK rotating around the low centre. It’s hard to predict where exactly will see rain and where will miss but the forecast will show a risk of showers.”

The Met Office has warned that the weather will be particularly unpredictable after midweek this week. The service’s deputy chief meteorologist, Nick Silkstone, stated: “The forecast for the UK past the middle of the week is still uncertain, with a complex jet stream interaction taking place, and this determining the relative position of areas of high and low pressure relative to the UK.

“It is most probable high pressure will sit to the north of the UK, with lower pressure to the south allowing cloudier conditions, outbreaks of rain and the potential for further thunderstorms in the south, while further north more settled and brighter conditions are most probable.”
