The estranged wife of the man Amanda Owen took as a lover has been through ‘two years of hell’, friends of the jilted ex have said – as they slammed the Yorkshire Farm star for not mentioning the affair.
Amanda and Clive Owen spoke frankly yesterday for the first time about the breakdown of their marriage – and how they both then sought love elsewhere has been widely praised by fans.
They told how they had agreed to separate and she became intimate with their mutual friend and business associate Rob Davies and was soon living with him.
But MailOnline can reveal how the one person who was not impressed by the way the former couple made their feelings about their split public was Mr Davies’ ex-wife – who believes she has been ‘written out of the story’.
Yasumi Davies, 57, had quit her life in Tokyo and moved to Yorkshire to begin a life with him – only for him to leave her for shepherdess Amanda Owen.

Today Yasumi told Mailonline: ‘I knew nothing of this and it has made me mad.’
Mrs Davies declined to comment further, adding ‘I don’t want to discuss it. Our divorce is finalising but not yet finalised.’
But friends of Yasumi have told that the Owens’ interview had left her furious as she believes Amanda and Clive have ‘constructed a new version of events’ which removes her and her feelings for her husband from the equation.
One friend of Mrs Davies told MailOnline: ‘Amanda’s explanation of these events appears to conveniently forget that when she began her relationship with Rob he was still a married man. Yasumi is very hurt by what she’s read.
‘It is quite clear that they have constructed a new version of events because they have a TV show to promote and want to get across the best possible version of their story.
‘But for her to say that Clive thought Robert was a good match for Amanda is pretty strange considering that he was still married to Yasumi at the time.
‘She has been through two years of hell since all this, going through a painful and difficult divorce, and has now been removed from the story completely as far as Amanda Own is concerned.
‘To discover her husband had been having an affair was devastating, especially in the way she found out – she knew nothing about it until she found a love note to him from Amanda.
Life goes on: Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda is ‘inseparable’ with a new man – businessman Robert (pictured right), ten months after she split from husband Clive
Career: Mr Davies, runs It’seeze Web Design Scarborough, the company behind Amanda’s website
Split: The celebrity shepherdess revealed she had made the ‘difficult decision to separate’ from Clive in a joint statement last summer
‘He left home soon afterwards to move in with Amanda and the Davies marriage came to an abrupt end.
‘Yasumi found herself suddenly alone and living a very different life from the one she was persuaded to move to the UK for. It’s very sad.’
It is understood the couple’s impending divorce will cite his relationship with Amanda Owen as the sole grounds for the failure of their marriage.
At his home in Malton, North Yorkshire, 72-year-old web designer Mr Davies declined to comment.
Amanda and Clive became famous starring in the Channel 5 documentary series Our Yorkshire Farm which began broadcasting in 2018.
In their new interview Amanda and Clive both spoke about how she became involved with Mr Davies – and how the relationship foundered under the sudden and intense scrutiny generated once it became public.
Amanda said: ‘I never set out looking for another relationship. Rob was a friend that Clive and I had both known for a long time. He put together the farm website and the digital aspect of the business, everything that we couldn’t do.
‘What he offered was conversation rather than confrontation, and Clive knew about it from the very beginning – he actually suggested Rob and I would be a good match.
Split: Amanda confirmed she had separated from her husband of 21 years Clive, 68, last summer, they share nine children together (pictured in 2020)
Lovebirds: Amanda and Robert’s friendship is believed to have blossomed through working closely together
Devastated: But friends of Mr Davies’ wife Yusami (pictured) have told of her shock after the businessman walked out of the family home and ended their 12-year marriage after confessing to an having an affair with Owen
‘At that point, a few years ago now, Clive was also seeing someone else and was openly dating. It wasn’t a secret, everyone roundabout knew, even the children.
‘But the impact of my and Rob’s relationship was far-reaching for everyone involved. Rob and I were both shattered by the way the media pursued us and reported it, and as a result Rob and I are no longer together or in touch.’
Clive said of the break-up: ‘My anger drove Amanda away.
‘Looking back on it I can see now that Amanda needed someone to talk to, someone she could trust, and at that stage I wasn’t that person.
‘Rob had always been a good friend to us, and we’d known him a long time.
‘They got together at a point when we had already separated so I wasn’t shocked or horrified, and it was never an affair in my mind because I knew about it from the beginning.
‘I was seeing other people too and no one came after me with their cameras and their negative stories saying I was a home wrecker.
‘So it’s not right to blame Amanda, as no one could have tried harder than she did to keep our relationship going.’
A source close to Yusami has said she is ‘absolutely heartbroken by what’s happened’

Neither of the Owens mentioned that at the time Rob Davies was living with and married to Yasumi – or that she only discovered her husband’s affair with Amanda when she found a love note from her.
When Yasumi confronted him with the note he rang Amanda in front of her and said she’d found.
It read: ‘Life is too short & happiness is too rare. I love you.’
Yasumi claims when she confronted her husband about this he rang Amanda in front of her – and seemed more concerned with protecting his lover’s TV career than saving his own marriage.
