Russian spies anticipating WW3 ‘buried nuclear bombs close to UK army bases’

Russian Cold War agents buried warfare apparatus close to UK military sites during the 80s just in case WW3 broke out, a special forces veteran has revealed.

More than a dozen caches of nucelar bombs, nerve-agent capsules and assault weapons were planted around Britain, with the biggest in Suffolk, close to RAF’s Mildenhall and Lakenheath, home of American Air Force bombers and fighter jets.

Undercover Kremlin spies even made a four-man underground bunker, filled with bedding, weapons and supplies in the UK in preparation for the next global war, ex-Special Boat Service-man (SBS) Duncan Falconer said.

In an interview with the Mirror, the vet and author of First Into Action Again said that Moscow had planned to send its elite “Spetsnaz” commandos off British shores by submarine or boat, to link up with the secret caches and launch attacks in the event a global war broke out.

One of the biggest underground caches contained a tank, veteran Duncan Falconer regailed

He added that the Russians planned to use commando raids to damage UK and US air force, to disable the West’s ability to strike against Russia.

He recalled: “I was involved in many operations in the Cold War and I realised the smoke and mirrors game was Russia telling the world they are as powerful as America. We knew they weren’t.

“But nobody here wanted to tell the world because that would reduce the amount of investment in the western war machine. It was great for the West to think Russia was mad and bad and powerful.”

Uk’s Special Boat Services were tasked with monitoring Russian spies entering UK waters

Duncan recalled when British intelligence discovered one of the terrifying underground capsules.

He said: “An underground cache was found inside a wood near Thetford, in Suffolk, near RAF Mildenhall. Someone had buried a huge tank and kitted it out for a four-man team to live in there. There was food and sleeping accommodation, but there was also an array of weapons, including the miniature 30kg and 90kg nuclear suitcase bombs.

“Apparently in the Cold War there were more than 100 on America’s east coast and the idea was if we finally went to war with Russia, they would send Spetsnaz teams to use them against their relevant targets.”

In another incident, the SBS were tasked with watching the Russians as they infiltrated the UK amidst claims they were planting nerve gas and nukes on British soil. An SBS team were sent to Scotland to watch a Russian fishing boat which had arrived in Scottish waters.

He said: “At six o’clock in the morning, the so-called fishing crew came out on deck in white shirts and T-shirts and started doing military physical training on deck. They were Spetsnaz. They were spying and supposedly trying to lay down these weapons caches.

“The Russians were always obsessed with that stuff.”
