There may be jewels on her gown – but Dakota Johnson’s outfit was clearly missing one special rock in particular.
For the actress has been pictured without her engagement ring once again – fuelling rumours that her relationship with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin really is over.
The 34-year-old, who has been dating Martin since 2017, attended a charity gala on Monday in a semi-sheer Gucci gown.
But there was no sign of her £340,000 emerald ring as she posed for photographers at the Kering Foundation’s annual Caring for Women dinner.
The couple reportedly got engaged in 2020 but only confirmed the rumour in March this year after receiving the blessing of Martin’s ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow and his two children Apple and Moses.
Dakota Johnson appeared WITHOUT her engagement ring at the Kering Foundation’s annual Caring for Women dinner in New York on Monday evening amid split from Chris Martin
The couple reportedly got engaged in 2020 but only confirmed the rumour in March this year after receiving the blessing of Martin’s ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow and his two children Apple and Moses
However there was speculation that they had split up just two months later when a Coldplay fan posted on social media that Martin had given her a lift and told her he was ‘single’.
In June, sources said the pair were still ‘going strong’ as Dakota attended Glastonbury Festival to watch Coldplay’s headline set.
But, just a few weeks later, she posted a picture of the script for her new film Daddio with the ring missing from her left hand.
Last month she was pictured without it again as she walked her dog in Malibu while Chris, 47, was performing in Germany.
At the time a source claimed they had called off their engagement and split for good after ‘drifting apart’.
They added: ‘Chris and Dakota have tried desperately hard over the past few months to make their relationship work. They’ll always have love for each other but they’ve both come to the conclusion the relationship cannot be sustained long-term.
‘They’re both busy people… and they both have personal priorities, passions and work commitments which don’t naturally intertwine with each other.
‘They wanted it to work but it just hasn’t, and they’ve now accepted it is best to move on.’

Martin famously split from actress wife Gwyneth Paltrow, the mother of his two children Apple, 20, and Moses, 18, in March 2014 after ten years of marriage
However two weeks ago, Dakota made a point of showing photographers she was wearing the emerald as she went out in Los Angeles.
Last week a representative for the Fifty Shades Of Grey star denied that they have split, saying: ‘The reports are not true. They are happily together.’
Dakota appeared to confirm her relationship with Martin in an interview with Tatler in September 2018 when she said: ‘I’m not going to talk about it, but I am very happy.’
The following November, she is said to have met Paltrow, her new husband Brad Falchuk, and Martin’s children at a Thanksgiving dinner
A source told PEOPLE at the time: ‘They’re a total modern family and had a great time celebrating together.’
The pair had a brief rumoured split in 2019 which was alleged to be over him pushing for them to have children, but they quickly got back together.
Martin famously split from actress wife Gwyneth Paltrow, the mother of his two children Apple, 20, and Moses, 18, in March 2014 after ten years of marriage.
The high-profile couple described their separation at the time as a ‘conscious uncoupling’ and had their divorce finalised in July, 2016.
Martin was reported to be in an on and off relationship with actress Annabelle Wallis before they split in August, 2017.
He was first seen with Dakota at a sushi restaurant in Los Angeles in October 2017 when they were reported to be ‘cozy, laughing and affectionate’.
