A former Manchester City player has been laughing about the amount of money he earned while at the club.
Shaleum “Shay” Logan came through the youth system at City before they were taken over by their current billionaire owners from Abu Dhabi, and shared a photo from 2007 on social media of his first-ever contract.
Managed by Stuart Pearce, City finished 14th in the Premier League with their most high-profile player being controversial midfielder Joey Barton. The club were owned by former Thailand Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, with their current owners not taking over until 12 months later.

Logan was seen as an up-and-coming prospect with high potential and boasted about his contract which saw him earn £450 per week with an appearance fee of £500. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, he joked about the fact he has “been getting this Saudi Money since early.”
While City have never been owned by someone from Saudi Arabia, Logan is presumably eluding to the fact the Saudi Pro League is notorious for paying big wages to some of its high-profile stars.

Fans were quick to react to his bizarre post by highlighting the sharp decline in his career since his days in the City academy, saying: “And now yer a plumber, be humble.”
Logan only ended up making one Premier League appearance for the East Manchester side before moving to Brentford in 2011, followed by a lengthy spell at Scottish side Aberdeen where he made over 200 appearances.
However, he dropped down the leagues and, as a result, opened his own plumbing business in 2021 and spent time working as a maintenance man on the floodlights at Aberdeen’s Pittodrie Stadium.
Another fan joked on X: “Nice keepsake that mate. Did you ever play?” His former Brentford teammate Leon Legge even responded: “Been massive time ever since aye roomy.”
That money for a 19-year-old back in 2007 wasn’t actually too bad, but compared to what some of City’s academy graduates are likely to be on now, it’s peanuts.
