Costco shopper’s customized cake ends in catastrophe as outcome has web in stitches

A Costco shopper was left in stitches when they ordered a personalised cake and the baker took their instructions a bit too literally.

The customer had asked for a half sheet cake with delicious vanilla cheesecake mousse that serves 48 portions. They wanted a simple design, specifying “no writing” and “no designs”, only requesting “red frosting on the perimeter for top/bottom.

To avoid any cock-ups, the savvy shopper even added a wee diagram to show how they fancied the icing piped around the edges of the cake.

But what they got instead was a stark white cake with their own diagram slapped on top in red icing.

At least the customer – and the internet – saw the funny side

It seems the punter saw the lighter side of the epic bake fail, as the snap ended up on Reddit with the caption: “Costco will give you exactly what you know you didn’t need.”

The cheeky post racked up over 109,000 upvotes, with Reddit users in fits over the mix-up.

One commenter chimed in: “I laughed so hard I nearly woke up my baby.”

Another posted: “That’s amazing. I would not be upset.”

While a third pointed out, “That’s what happens when you expect someone at the bakery to understand ‘perimeter.'”

And in a tasty twist, some thought the baker actually smashed it out of the park with the unintentional design.

One user gushed: “This is a thing of beauty.” Another agreed, giving it the thumbs up with the words: “I would eat this.”
