Gordon Ramsay’s new canapes mocked for trying like ‘cigarettes and ashtray’

Gordon Ramsay’s posh nibbles at the swanky Savoy in London have sparked uproar among foodies.

The Michelin-starred chef’s innovative canape offering appears to have left a sour taste, as punters slated them for looking like cigarettes. The canapes are part of his new sample menu that has a £185 price tag per head, raising eyebrows rather than appetites.

Ramsay‘s canapes are stuffed with lobster, roe, turbot, and lamb, but despite the mouth-watering line-up, it’s their appearance that has got people talking.

One diner quipped: “I’m sorry Gordon, but I thought these were two cigarettes.” Another chimed in with: “Gordon, please don’t take this too harshly. But the first dish looks like an ashtray, my friend.” And a third didn’t hold back, commenting: “Two blunts with whipped cream.”

Meanwhile, others took aim at the bite-sized portions, joking that Ramsay was dishing up dinner for dollhouses. Despite the roasting, some savoured the creativity behind the controversial cuisine. One foodie defended: “This is gorgeous. People don’t understand culinary design if they disagree.”

Another wrote: “These are amazing.” It comes as Ramsay was served another slice of controversy over his breakfast pricings last month.

Silvio Tattiscone slammed the celeb chef’s full English as akin to a “motorway service station” meal. The patron shared a snap of his plate and raged: “Bread Street Kitchen, a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. Yours for £19.”

The breakfast plate in question seemed to sport a lonely hash brown, a single mushroom, one tomato, one banger, a pair of poached eggs, two strips of bacon and a tiny pot of beans. According to the restaurant’s website, you do get toast with the English Breakfast.
