Guitars, hammers, prams and umbrellas banned from soccer stadium as followers rage

League Two side Bradford City have sent fans into meltdown after revealing a list of items banned from their stadium on social media.

Whilst a lot of the things listed – such as weapons, flares and glass – are pretty obvious, there are a few pictured on the sign placed outside the University of Bradford stadium that have caught the attention of supporters.

There’s a bizarre limit on the size of your umbrella. And if you’re a family with a small child, don’t even think about bringing a pushchair with you, as you’ll be turned away at the turnstiles.

Supporters have voiced their opinion on the stadium restrictions with many having a particular issue with the fact that liquids over 500ml are banned from inside the stadium. A few were quick to point out in the comments that Bradford attracts a lot of older fans, who are used to bringing a large flask of tea or coffee with them.

One user said: ” I do think the older generations should get ABIT of a pass bringing 1L flasks of tea or coffee, as people have mentioned below, they aren’t the problem.” With another posting: “Can’t bring a flask in. How ridiculous is that.”

Another fan said: “Can’t even take a hip flask in now… the world has gone mad.” While a fourth joked: “Shame, I’ll have to take my guitar home now.”

Whilst it does seem odd that the club are banning items that cause no harm at all, one supporter pointed out that “all clubs in the top five tiers must adhere” to these ground regulations, so Bradford shouldn’t be taking all of the flak.

Bradford have a storied history with their biggest success coming back in 1911 when they lifted the FA Cup – their only major trophy. Since then they have been from the fourth division to the Premier League and back with their 25,000 seater stadium commonly known by its old name of ‘Valley Parade’ still standing strong, after being built in 1886.

The Bantams currently sit fifth in League Two and are usually one of the sides fighting for promotion from the division. They have been in the EFL’s lowest tier since 2019, when they were relegated from League One.
