BBC Breakfast‘s Naga Munchetty teased her ‘disgusted’ co-host Charlie Stayt just minutes into Friday’s show.

The presenter, 49, couldn’t help but taunt the broadcaster, 62, during a segment that left him squirming.

In the programme, Naga and Charlie were discussing the recent fly infestations in Wales with correspondent Hywel Griffith.

Naga explained: ‘Residents of a village in South Wales say they’ve been inundated by a mysterious swarm of flies.’

‘People living in Bettws near Bridgend say they can’t open their windows or eat lunch in peace because of the insects,’ Charlie added.

As photos of dead flies were shown stuck in traps and being swept up by a broom, he shuddered in disgust.

Naga taunted: ‘Has that bothered you?’

‘A bit like that, isn’t it? Urgh,’ Charlie responded as Naga giggled.

Last week, Naga revealed that she was branded an ‘idiot’ by her producer after she made a dangerous health error.

The BBC Breakfast host opened up on her potential life-threatening blunder as she told how she forgot to reorder her vital EpiPen, which she needs for her Birch Oral Syndrome (also known as oral allergy syndrome (OAS), which is an allergic reaction that can occur when people with birch pollen allergies eat certain fruits and vegetables).

During a recent discussion about allergies on the show, Naga told her condition is connected to Hay fever, which, according to doctors, is on the rise.

Naga told how trying to get hold of an EpiPen had been proving to be ‘quite difficult’, especially if you hadn’t had an allergic episode in a while, causing her to put off trying to get one.

And her lack of action in procuring the crucial medical device was criticised by her colleague, with Naga herself admitting her lapse was ‘really bad’.

Official NHS guidelines state that the auto-injectors were vital for immediate response to severe allergic reactions triggered by various allergens, including insect stings or bites, foods, drugs or exercise.

During the episode, Naga spoke with a guest called Palina, who recalled a terrifying incident during a holiday in Thailand where she was left fighting for breath after mistakenly consuming the wrong dish in a restaurant.

Palina, who has a severe nut allergy said: ‘I think that the most important thing for people with allergies, more severe allergies, is to have your EpiPens, because in most places it can be really life-saving to have that initial adrenaline before an ambulance gets there.

‘For me, in my case, if I hadn’t had my EpiPens with me at the Thai restaurant, it would’ve been a lot more serious.’

At this, Naga then admitted that she hadn’t followed the advice herself, stating: ‘I can’t say I always do it myself.’

She added: ‘It’s really bad, there are things like getting them re-prescribed because they go out of date and feeling like you’re taking something that you don’t use, even though you need it.’

Palina went on to agree with Naga and shared her own difficulties in obtaining an EpiPen despite the severity of her allergy, saying it took her four months to get one.

‘But, it takes time doesn’t it? And getting a re-prescription for it can be quite difficult for an EpiPen if you haven’t had an incident in recent times.’
