Big Brother bosses have revealed they are bringing back a key element from the original show ahead of the new series.

The UK’s biggest social experiment returned to television screens in October 2023 after a five-year absence.

However, fans were quick to notice that there had been a major change for the first series of the revived show – there were no live moments.

But, The Sun reported on Thursday that ITV bosses have done a U-turn and series 21 will show what the housemates are up to in real time.

A source told the publication: ‘Big Brother fans are a discerning bunch and they have certain expectations about what they should get with their favourite reality TV show.

‘The live element is incredibly important to them as it adds a little edge to proceedings. They brought back the live element for the celebrity version last autumn and it didn’t cause too many problems.

‘But it did bring back the important sense that anything could happen, and it would all be caught on camera. That’s even more exciting given the fact that this is NOT the celebrity version, so we really have no idea what kind of characters are going to emerge from the limousines and go into the house.’

In August, it was revealed that the Big Brother house is being rebuilt by ITV – a year on from its demolition.

Big Brother returned with a bang on ITV2 in October 2023, five years on from its last series, series 19.

Series 20 was won by Jordan Sangha who is currently in a relationship with series housemate Henry Southan, who finished third.

But the house they won in is no more, having been demolished immediately after Celebrity Big Brother concluded in March 2024.

In August, The Sun revealed that ITV has sought planning permission to rebuild the house – using the exact same floor plans.

The house is located inside a studio in Harlesden, North West London and ITV intends to build an exact replica.

The plans were okayed by Brent Council heads earlier in August and they include the live outdoor set returning.

Also included in the planning permission is the programme’s iconic garden – but this a separate structure adjacent to the house.

Big Brother is confirmed to return some time in October, with Will Best and AJ Odudu once again serving as hosts.
