Larry the Downing Street cat has been called a “little s**t” by one of Keir Starmer’s top MPs.
Scottish Secretary Ian Murray told business leaders that Britain’s favourite moggy was the “most miserable animal you’ll ever meet in your life”.
Speaking at the CBI Scotland annual dinner in Glasgow, the Labour minister recalled the time he visited Downing Street when the new PM picked his cabinet.

“Without putting too fine a point on it, Larry the cat is a little s**t,” Mr Murray said. “So none of us got a picture with Larry the cat. Larry the cat is the most miserable animal you’ll ever meet in your life.
“I’m not surprised with who he’s had to live with for the last 10 years.”
Larry, who has more than 900,000 followers on X, and Mr Murray have a bit of history after the 17-year-old cat snubbed him as he was leaving Number 10 in July.
Mr Murray apparently still bears a grudge after he was snapped trying to stroke Larry outside No 10, but the cat promptly got up and walked inside.
Last night fans of Larry were quick to defend the Government’s ‘chief mouser’ amid the unkind comments. One fan on X said: “Bite the little fe*ker next time you see him.”
Another added: “The claws will be out! Go get’em Larry!”
The Cabinet Office website claims Larry has “captured the hearts of the Great British public”.
One source said that officials have even prepared a press release and graphics for the “sad day” Larry dies, and the plan has been codenamed ‘Larry Bridges’.
“We felt it had to be handled so sensitively,” they added.
