Prince Harry celebrates his 40th birthday today with Meghan Markle and his children before a rumoured lads holiday with his pals, according to reports.
Living the high life means the royals hardly ever find their wish lists unfulfilled. However on Christmas time, they’re known for exchanging quirky, inexpensive gag gifts instead of splashing out.
One year, Prince Harry was left scratching his head over a peculiar present from an unexpected family member, which he even called ‘cold-blooded’.

In his tell-all book ‘Spare’, Harry says his great-aunt, Princess Margaret or “Aunt Margo” as he dubs her, admitted they weren’t exactly chummy despite sharing “12.5%” of their genes.
He reminisces about a baffling Christmas Eve at Sandringham Estate when Margaret handed him a bizarre gift of a minuscule pen encircled by a rubber fish.
Harry remembers picking the tiniest package first, spotting the label ‘From Aunt Margo’, and shouting across the room to express his gratitude. Upon unwrapping the oddity, he thanked her again, only for Margaret to stress it wasn’t just any old pen, but something rather special, reports the Mirror.
Harry remarked: “It wasn’t just any biro, she pointed out. It had a tiny rubber fish wrapped around it. I said: ‘Oh. A fish biro! OK.’ I told myself: That is cold-blooded.”
In his explosive memoir, Harry reflected on how he believed he and Margaret could have been pals as they were “Two Spares” with plenty in common.
He states in the book: “Her relationship with Granny wasn’t an exact analogue of mine with Willy, but pretty close. The simmering rivalry, the intense competition (driven largely by the older sibling), it all looked familiar. Aunt Margo also wasn’t that dissimilar from Mummy. Both rebels, both labelled as sirens.”
Tensions between William and Harry, who were once thick as thieves, have been fraught for ages. The rift reportedly started before Harry tied the knot with former ‘Suits’ bombshell, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, when Harry reportedly unhappy with William’s actions towards his then future wife.
The bad blood escalated with shocking revelations Harry dished out against Wills in his no-holds-barred memoir ‘Spare’ and his Netflix series. The Duke of Sussex didn’t pull any punches in his autobiography, claiming that William got physical with him during a heated spat about Meghan, allegedly shoving him into a dog bowl.
