While Apple’s updates are typically smooth, it’s not unheard of for a spanner to be thrown in the works. To avoid any digital disasters, it’s wise to back up your iPhone before hitting “Download and Install”, reports the Express.
Fear not, backing up your iPhone is a breeze just follow the steps below and safeguard all your digital treasures.
- Link your gadget to a Wi-Fi network.
- Head over to Settings > [your name], and tap iCloud.
- Select iCloud Backup.
- Hit Back Up Now. Stay connected to your Wi-Fi network until the process is complete.
- Under Back Up Now, you’ll see the date and time of your last backup.
If your iPhone is running out of space, it could cause problems when trying to download the hefty iOS 18 update, which is likely to exceed 1GB in size. It’s a good idea to have a quick clear-out and delete old files and photos that are no longer needed.
If you’re keen to be among the first to get your hands on iOS 18, ensure you’re connected to speedy Wi-Fi. As previously mentioned, this update will be a large file and it’s not advisable to use your mobile data unless you have unlimited 5G access.
It’s also wise to charge your battery and plug your iPhone into the mains – some Apple updates won’t run if the battery level is too low, so now is a good time to top up.
