Creep claims setting off firework in tied-up spouse’s vagina was an ‘accident’

A deranged and jilted husband tied his estranged wife to a bed and detonated a firework in her vagina because she refused to get back with him.

The 36-year-old Ukrainian national, referred to as Olekandr S, was sentenced for 18 years by a Czech court for his brutal assault.

Oleksandr S. had tried to win his ex back and persuaded her to visit him in Pilsen. However, the Prague Supreme Court heard that when she refused to move in with him, he carried out the horrific attack that nearly killed her.

Prosecutor Matin Rykl told judges that during their last meeting, the pair had sex. When his wife again refused to move back with him, Oleksandr S. took his savage revenge.

Rykl said: “The defendant tied his wife with duct tape to prevent her from defending herself.

“Then he inserted a firecracker into her genitals and lit it, although he must have known that the firecracker could kill the victim.”

The court heard how his wife suffered appalling injuries and extensive blood loss and only survived thanks to the skills of surgeons at University Hospital Pilsen.

In harrowing testimony, his wife, who was not named, told the court: “I was thrown on the bed, I was lying on my stomach.

“He pushed my panties aside and put the firecracker in and then lit it.

“There was an explosion, my blood was flowing. He then released my mouth and untied me.”

She went on to tell how she begged him to call paramedics but he just tossed her a rag to mop up her blood.

Later, the court heard, he relented and drove her still bleeding heavily to hospital.

Judges dismissed Oleksandr S.’s claim that the explosion was an accident, caused by a lighter used for light.

He said he was at a birthday party when his wife called to say she had come to visit, so he went home to cook a romantic dinner.

Afterwards, he said he talked his ex into having sex, “even though she didn’t want to go”.

He said: “She lay down on the bed, I tied her up and put a gag and she didn’t resist. There was a firecracker in the bag by the bed, I took it out and pushed it in. It seemed funny to me at the time. But she wanted me to pull it out, she screamed, because the gag had come off.

“It was dark, I wanted to shine a light with a lighter and it set off the firecracker. I was shocked and didn’t know what to do. I was standing there. When I went to pull out the firecracker, it exploded.”

Oleksandr S. had appealed an earlier sentence from the Pilsen Regional Court, however on September 10, judges confirmed the jail terms, and he was also ordered to pay CZK 600,000 (GBP 20,000) compensation to his ex and will be deported from the country when he is freed from jail.
