A bloke who burgled a pub in Winsford tried to make a run for it overseas. Terence John Adams had been enjoying a pint at the Top House pub on the evening of Saturday, September 7.
Before leaving the boozer, he sneaked into the gents and forced open a back window. He then returned to the pub just before 2am on Sunday, September 8, clambering through the open window and nicking over £3,000 in cash.
After realising the pub had been robbed, a staff member checked the CCTV footage and spotted Adams as the culprit. The police were informed and after being contacted by both the victim and the cops, Adams confessed to the burglary, promising to turn himself in at Northwich Police Station on Wednesday, September 11.

But instead of heading to Northwich, he booked a one-way ticket to Vietnam from Heathrow Airport. However, the coppers were one step ahead and nabbed him at Heathrow Airport on the same day, before carting him back to Cheshire.
The 37 year old from Normans Lane, Whitley, Northwich, admitted to one count of burglary other than a dwelling and was hauled before Chester Magistrates Court on Friday, September 13 where he was handed a six-month prison sentence, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Detective Constable Lara Hill, who spearheaded the investigation, shared after the sentencing: “Adams had assured officers that he would hand himself in at Northwich police station, and by doing so thought that he would be able to flee to Vietnam before we would be able to locate and arrest him.

“However, through our diligent enquiries, we were quickly able to detect that he was actually intending to leave the country in an attempt to avoid justice. As a result, our officers were ready and waiting to arrest him as he approached the departure gate at Heathrow airport. So, instead of flying to Vietnam, Adams had a trip to our custody unit in Middlewich.”
In addition to his six-month stint behind bars for burglary, Adams was also slapped with a compensation order and hauled back to prison for prior offences.
