Former Sen. Claire McCaskill Spells Out Why Vance’s ‘Create Stories’ Claim Is So Sinister

Former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) argued that one “really telling phrase” from GOP vice presidential candidate JD Vance confirmed “what we all have sensed forever” — which is that Republicans are willing to “say anything” to win the 2024 election.

Vance admitted to CNN’s Dana Bash this weekend that, “If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that’s what I’m going to do.”

The acknowledgment came during a discussion on GOP nominee Donald Trump and his running mate Vance’s peddling of baseless rumors that immigrants in Ohio are eating people’s pets.

Vance “knows he can get stories to kick off on social media, especially in that dark corner where their base hangs out,” the former lawmaker said.

“The mask is off,” McCaskill continued. “But that was a really telling phrase [about creating stories] because he’s a candidate for vice president. He knows every word will be dissected. And he is very good with words. If you read ‘Hillbilly Elegy,’ you know this guy is good with words.”

Vance is “saying out loud what we all have sensed forever,” McCaskill added. “They are willing to say anything to try to win an election, even if they fundamentally understand it’s damaging, harmful and really dangerous.”
