Kylian Mbappe’s response to being subbed by Real Madrid speaks volumes

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe demonstrated his humble side when he gifted his shirt to a ballboy after being substituted.

The French footballer made the biggest move of the transfer market this summer, heading to the Spanish capital after allowing his contract with PSG to expire. The 25-year-old penned a deal until 2029, joining fellow stars Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr. at the Bernabeu.

Despite being one of the world’s top footballers and now playing for the Champions League holders, Mbappe showed he still maintains a generous nature via an act during his latest outing for Los Blancos.

Prior to Real’s win over Sociedad on Saturday, where he scored a crucial second goal, Mbappe was seen chatting with a ball boy before the match started. It’s believed the youngster asked for the superstar’s shirt. Unlike many of his peers, Mbappe didn’t throw a tantrum when he was substituted late in the game.

Instead, he took time out for the young fan who approached him on the bench asking for the jersey  Mbappe happily complied, leaving the ballboy ecstatic as he ran off clutching the treasured jersey with a wide grin on his face, reports the Mirror.

Mbappe’s goal contributed to Madrid’s 2-0 victory, helping them maintain their unbeaten start to the season. They currently sit third in the league, four points behind rivals Barcelona, who have maintained a perfect record with five wins from five.

The French ace’s stint in Madrid began with a shaky start. Mbappe faced criticism following a 1-1 draw with RCD Mallorca during the season’s first clash – which came after his goal against Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup.

He also drew blanks against Real Valladolid and Las Palmas before netting a brace against Real Betis to regain his stride, seemingly finding again the form that makes him one of football’s most lethal forwards.

His goal against Sociedad took his tally to three in two games, and he’ll be aiming to maintain this hot streak as the new Champions League season kicks off. Regardless of what transpires, it’s clear that Mbappe isn’t letting success get to his head.
