Haliey Welch – aka Hawk Tuah girl – has revealed what happened in the days after she shot to stardom.
Haliey, 22, was a mainstay on everyone’s social media feeds for most of the summer after she uttered the infamous response of “hawk tuah – spit on that thang” to a question about bedroom advice.
The influencer started a podcast ingeniously titled ‘Talk Tuah’, where she recently discussed what happened right before and after her legendary explicit answer. Haliey’s interview accomplice and pal Chelsea Bradford spoke about the night she and Hawk Tuah girl ran into YouTubers Tim and Dee.

There’s lots of quality news coming out of the US.
“We’re walking down the street and Haliey and I [Chelsea] see these two dudes with a flashlight and camera,” said Chelsea. “They asked us if they could ask a few questions – those questions were the last ones I expected to hear. It was like ‘what’s your favourite colour’…that’s why I passed the mic to you.”
“Yeah, you set me up,” said Nashville-based Haliey.
“I felt bad at first,” replied Chelsea. “But now I’m proud.”
Chelsea’s decision to pass the mic to Haliey yielded the catchphrase of 2024 and changed both girls’ lives.
The friend added “on the way back home, [Haliey] said ‘we messed up. We did a street interview.’ She didn’t even know what she said”.
Haliey said when the clip of her now infamous “spit on that thang” quip started going viral she was “unconscious”.
“By the time I woke up there was like 500k views,” she said. “I thought, this is bad. We didn’t leave the house.”
The racy answer sparked a million memes and reels, and bagged Haliey notable high-profile interviews and festival appearances over the summer.
These included one particularly awkward encounter with Bill Maher. Fans were left cringing after the ageing comic, 68, begged Haliey to make a sex podcast.
“You need to do a podcast. You do it right here on Club Random if you do it my way,” said Maher. “Sex expert.” Welch laughed nervously throughout the exchange and blushed at Maher’s suggestions.
