Tesco buyers confused by new rule they have to observe when shopping for Christmas merchandise

Tesco’s got shoppers doing a double-take with their latest rule, and it’s all about how many tubs of Roses Chocolate you can bag. It might be yonks away from Christmas, but the supermarket giant is already slinging festive treats and causing quite the head-scratcher by slapping a limit on these sweet tubs.

Some eagle-eyed Reddit user clocked a sign at Tesco that read: “Chocolate tubs MAX 10 per customer.”

This shopper was so bamboozled they hit up Reddit with a snap of the sign and the cryptic caption “what happened here bro”, setting off a proper chinwag online. The Roses were tagged at £6 each, or you could snag ’em for a nifty £4.50 if you flashed your Clubcard.

That bit of gossip went viral on Reddit, with hundreds of peeps chucking in their two cents about why Tesco would put a cap like this. The Mirror’s been digging around, and some reckon it’s a crackdown on sneaky sorts who grab the chocs on the cheap then flog ’em for more dosh elsewhere cheeky!, reports the Express.

Others think folks might be stockpiling to sell the sweets after when they’re not so easy to get your mitts on.

A clever clogs on Reddit has come up with a theory that’s got everyone talking apparently, some canny companies are snapping up those massive chocolate tubs now to hand out as Christmas pressies to their clients later in the year. They’ve done the maths and reckon businesses could save a whopping £210 per pallet if they buy early, dodging the festive season price hikes.

One Reddit user was left scratching their head, revealing: “Tbf people do buy more, the other week someone ordered like 3+ pallets of celebrations and other tubs. Filled a large panel van completely.”

Another shopper shared their own tale of amazement: “We have that at my Tesco too, limit of 50 though.”

They added: “Watched two men come in and buy an entire pallet of celebrations and then do it again the next day and load it all into an enterprise van. When I asked why they need so many they claimed it was for a ‘personal charity’ and wouldn’t tell me which one.”

The plot thickens as Redditors have been chinwagging about this supposed cap for “several years”, but there’s not a peep from Tesco confirming any such policy. It’s all a bit hush-hush, with only some stores putting a limit on the number of choccy tubs you can grab, leaving shoppers to wonder if there’s a secret nationwide clampdown going on.

Turns out, when it comes to Tesco’s trolley rules, it’s not a one-size-fits-all situation.

The supermarket spilled the beans to Express.co.uk, saying: “In certain locations, purchase limits on specific items might be enforced to ensure all people can access their needs, and to manage space on the company’s Grocery Home Shopping vans.”

They were quick to clarify that these measures aren’t because of a national shortage but rather to guarantee “fairness” for shoppers when everyone’s trying to stock up.
