A Christmas-mad gran who gets her festive fix by decking out her house with decorations in September every year, has been on a decorating spree once again . . . as she has for the past 35 years.
Tracey Drew couldn’t wait to break out the baubles as soon as autumn reared its head on 9 September, aiming to shove aside the gloomy weather. Her home in Patchway, Bristol, is now like Santa’s grotto, boasting over 100 ornaments, much to the dismay of her six kids who reckon their mum’s lost the plot, starting Yuletide craziness months before December.
Even Tracey’s fiance is fed up with the festive flair, insisting she dismantle the display, but she’s stood firm against the grinchy grief. Her fella has even hatched a plan to whisk her away next year when September rolls in, keeping her away from any temptation to start the holiday hullabaloo too soon. But Tracey, 53, ain’t having any of it.

She defended her premature Christmas cheer: “I always put my Christmas decorations up early but this year it was even earlier just because the weather has been so miserable. I just love when it’s dark in the evening and you’ve got your Christmas lights on. I love this. I sent my son up into the loft to get the decorations out and he managed to get them all out. I spent the day putting them all up.”, reports the Mirror.
Tracey’s not finished with her impressive festive collection yet, as she revealed a sneaky secret: “I usually put them up towards the end of September but this year I put them up early because of the bad weather.”
Her fella was far from amused by the early Christmas cheer, with Tracey recalling the domestic drama: “Much to my fiance’s disgust when he came in from work because he went absolutely mental and told me to take it all down and I told him it was staying up. He can’t stand it.”
The Christmas enthusiast couldn’t be happier with her grotto-like home: “I love it when I come back into the house. I can’t wait to get back from work and I turn all the lights on. I’ve got grandchildren. I sent my oldest grandchild a photo of all the decorations up on Monday and she said ‘nanny you are crazy’.
“When guests come round, they say I’m mental. What they can’t understand is why I want all this clutter in my house. To me it’s not cluttered and it’s displayed nicely.”
Taking three hours to turn her lounge into a wonderland of Christmas trees, lights, and ornaments, the gran-of-eight spills on her dislike for Halloween and her love for the prettiness of Christmas: “I’m Christmas obsessed. I used to work in a school kitchen and I used to dress up as Father Christmas every year and the kids loved it.”
