Jackass star Bam Margera again in jail after DUI arrest

Bam Margera is being held in Chester County Prison in Pennsylvania after a driving under the influence arrest earlier this month that authorities said violated his probation.

The Jackass alum, 44, will remain in custody until a Monday hearing over the purported violation, the Pennsylvania-based outlet Mainline Media News reported Thursday, citing court docs it reviewed.

The West Chester, Pennsylvania native is slated to appear Monday ahead of Common Pleas Judge Patrick Carmody, the outlet reported.

Margera, who wed fitness model Dannii Marie in May in New Mexico, was taken into custody September 16 in McConnellsburg, Fulton County in connection with DUI and reckless driving, according to the outlet.

The arrest, which was handled by Pennsylvania State Police, breached terms he agreed to in entering probation in June following a guilty plea over a April 2023 incident involving his brother at the family’s Pocopson, Pennsylvania home.

Margera was taken into custody Wednesday after speaking with officials (who determined he violated his parole) at the Justice Center and Office of Pretrial Services, where the county probation department is located.

The court ordered Margera to complete six months of probation under their supervision in connection with the terms of his guilty plea to a pair of disorderly conduct counts.

Under the terms of his plea, Margera had to submit to random drug tests and undergo treatment for his mental health.

Margera also is slated to appear at a preliminary hearing in connection with the DUI and reckless driving charges.

Probation Officer Bradford Griffith said that Margera, with the latest breach, presents an ‘overt danger’ to himself and others with his conduct, according to court records reviewed by the outlet.

Griffith said Margera had not complied with the area of his probation in regards to seeking help for drug and alcohol abuse.

Margera told the judge in June following his guilty plea, ‘I just want to says thanks for this whole situation. It lets me clean up my life. It is a blessing in disguise.’

He told MediaNews Group in June that he was ‘on the right path’ – adding, ‘with the path I was on with alcohol and drugs, I needed to hit some rock bottom to turn things around.’

Margera initially was charged with simple assault and terroristic threats in the 2023 incident, according to the outlet, and each charge was a misdemeanor that could have led to prison with a conviction.

In a July 2023 hearing, Margera older brother Jess Margera said the MTV personality had exhibited ‘frightening and unpredictable’ behavior in an April 23, 2023 incident in which he punched him repeatedly and threatened his girlfriend; and parents Phillip and Jess Margera.

Jess said in a hearing, according to the outlet, ‘He was threatening everybody. The whole house. My girlfriend looked like she had just gotten back from Afghanistan, with PTSD.’

An arrest affidavit indicated that Margera’s parents told a state trooper that Bam had ran into the nearby woods following the violent outburst.
