Around half of the UK’s population have declared carvery as their favourite meal, with a quarter admitting they would eat it daily.

When it comes to choosing meat and vegetables, there’s plenty of debate. Roast potatoes are the most popular variety of potato to include in a roast dinner, with almost three quarters (72%) of UK respondents opting for this classic, while only 12% choose mash and a surprising 6% prefer chips. Contrary to popular belief, Brits have named Brussels sprouts as their second favourite vegetable, only surpassed by the beloved roast potato.

Beef has been crowned as the nation’s top choice of meat (29%), closely followed by chicken (21%), lamb (16%) and pork (7%). Gavin O’Neill, Business Unit Director for Food Pubs at Greene King, commented: “With the darker nights and seasonal changes upon us, there’s no better hearty, warming meal than full roast carvery, so why not make it even better value for money at only £7.
