Georgie Thompson, once the face of Sky Sports News for many, has had quite a journey since her departure from the channel in 2011, but what does she do now?
Football enthusiasts will fondly remember tuning into the channel to see Thompson delivering the latest sports news. Over a decade, she became a household name due to her stint on Sky.
Post her departure, she continued to stay in the spotlight, working on various shows and reporting on numerous sports. She also married Olympic legend and Britain’s most successful sailor ever, Sir Ben Ainslie.

Now known as Lady Ainslie, many fans might be unaware that the iconic broadcaster is now worth an impressive £8million, according to Famous Networth. The 46-year-old has also spent time working in the USA and currently hosts a popular podcast with her sportsman husband.
Thompson kick-started her career as a production assistant for GMTV before joining Sky Sports in January 2001. It was at Sky that Georgie covered a plethora of major sporting events, as per the Mirror.
Audiences will recall Georgie presenting US Open Tennis, F1, Speedway World Cup, the America’s Cup and even the 2011 Wimbledon Championships. However, it’s her tenure on Sky Sports News, where she frequently hosted ‘Afternoon Report’, that people may remember most.
During her time at Sky, she also served as a panellist on Sky One’s A League of Their Own. After stepping down from news hosting duties, Georgie transitioned to a full-time presenter role on Sky Sports F1.
In the 2012 season, Thompson co-hosted The F1 Show with pit-lane reporter Ted Kravitz and took charge of the Sky Pad segment during race weekends. However, in 2013, Georgie made the bold move to relocate to America.
Stateside, she landed a gig with Fox Sports and became a panellist on Regis Philbin’s sports talk show Crowd Goes Wild in 2013. The show ran for just over a year before she returned to the UK to take up a role on Radio 5 Live’s Fighting Talk.
While Georgie was loved for her insightful and humorous approach to sports broadcasting, her personal life was also of interest. She had a three-year romance with Declan Donnelly of Ant and Dec fame before she met and officially started dating Ainslie.

Sir Ben, aged 47, cemented his status as an Olympic legend by securing gold at four consecutive Games. He also managed to snag a silver at his final Games in London in 2012, making him the most successful sailor in the history of the Games.
Despite Georgie once stating she’d never date a sportsman “because it would only bring me grief”, she described her relationship with Sir Ben as “a thunderbolt moment” in a 2013 interview with The Mail. Georgie admitted that initially she and her beau were “in different places”, but as luck would have it, “the stars aligned” allowing the pair to really click.
They tied the knot in December 2014 and now are proud parents to two kids: their daughter, Bellatrix, born in 2016, and a son, Fox, who arrived in 2021. It turns out their partnership thrives in work just as much as it does in love, with Georgie and Sir Ben smashing it with their podcast, ‘Performance People’.
It’s become quite the fixture, with big names like Toto Wolff of Mercedes fame, running royalty Paula Radcliffe and A-list actor Stanley Tucci, all joining the couple for a chat on their show.
