A man who had a heart attack at 22 years old has revealed how he felt during the terrifying ordeal, while urging his followers to realise that they’re ‘not gonna live forever’.
Tom Birchy runs a TikTok account where he regularly talks about the major health scare he had in his early twenties. In one of his videos, the TikToker shared a warning with his followers about his heart attack. He reveals the symptoms he’d recommend keeping an eye out for, while sharing what happened to him when he had his heart attack.
He explains that at the time, he was employed in a ‘high stress job in the music industry’ and added that he was ‘using carrier bags’ as a means to get him through each day, which is TikTok slang for a substance known to affect a user’s heart rate.

Discussing how often he used “carrier bags”, Tom shared: “Too much, twice or three times a week, but it fit into the party lifestyle ‘oh music industry I’m so cool’.” He went on to explain how he’d woken up one morning and noticed that his arms felt tight, especially around the back of his elbow, which felt numb.
He recalled: “It went down my arms and I was banging them on the sofa and I couldn’t be comfortable sitting up, lying down or standing up, and so I called the ambulance.” When he arrived at the hospital, Tom explains that he had blood tests, followed by an injection to help prevent blood clots.
In a shocking turn of events, his tests revealed that Tom had suffered from a heart attack, which led to him having a ‘fear of impending doom’. After his diagnosis, Tom had to spend a week in hospital recovering. He said that the whole ordeal was ‘truly a terrifying experience’.
Clearly it gave the youngster the wakeup call he needed to change his lifestyle as he now shares videos to TikTok encouraging people to realise that they are ‘not invincible’ and that they’re ‘not gonna live forever’.
He warned: “If smashing the carrier bags every weekend you think is a great idea, all it takes is one day for that to happen to you and you might not be as lucky as me.”
