A British tourist, 56, is battling for his life after a failed attempt to jump into a swimming pool from a balcony.
The holidaymaker reportedly slipped during the daring leap and crashed onto the pavement of his villa in Pegeia, Cyprus. Reports suggest that he was rushed to the Accident and Emergency Department of Paphos General Hospital in a critical condition.
Cypriot media reported that due to the severity of his injuries, he was moved to the intensive care unit. It’s believed the tourist was holidaying with friends at the villa when the incident occurred.

This comes just days after a British teen was hospitalised following a near-drowning incident at a water park in Mallorca. Spanish press reported that the incident took place at the Hidropark water park in Alcudia, with motorcyclists from the Civil Guard forming the convoy.
The 061 emergency services received a call about a serious drowning at the water park around 4pm on September 16, reports the Mirror.
An ambulance quickly arrived at the scene where they found the patient, a 15-year-old boy, in a critical condition. After stabilising him, the medical team transported him to Son Espases Hospital.
A Brit teen is fighting for their life after a horrendous accident at a water park slide left him unconscious. According to local media Cronica Balear, the 15-year-old took a nasty blow to the head hurtling down a slide.
Their coverage said: “The minor has been knocked unconscious when he went down one of the slides and hit his head. The boy, as a result of the crash, has been knocked unconscious, and once he has reached the pool, he has gone to the bottom of it.”
