Liverpool fans are “over the moon” after Sofie Lundgaard extended her stay with the club.
Lundgaard, 22, has become a fan favourite on Merseyside ever since swapping Denmark for the Reds in 2023. And the Danish midfielder took to social media to announce the deal: “Extremely proud and honoured to extend my contract with @liverpoolfcw!
“[I] can’t wait to continue my journey with this club and see what’s next!” With one fan responding: “Best news I’ve had all year!”

“W of the season,” a second gushed. While a third replied: “Big congratulations on the contract. Looking forward to following you in the best club in the world!”
“As a massive Liverpool fan. I am delighted for you,” a fourth said. And another added: “Amazing news, glad you’ll be a Red for many years to come! You’re gonna smash it this season!”
Speaking to Liverpool’s in house media, Lundgaard said: “I’m really happy and proud to extend my contract with Liverpool. I think it’s a dream come true again and I really enjoy being here. It was really a no-brainer for me.
“It’s unreal to be in Melwood, the facilities are so good and we have everything we need to perform on the pitch as well. I think that’s great. I enjoy living in the city. I think it’s really nice that everything is so close and we also have the water nearby. I enjoy my time here.”
Lundgaard was named on the bench for Sunday’s Women’s Super League opener with Leicester City at the St Helens Stadium.
