Cosmetic surgical procedure knowledgeable’s verdict on actor’s dramatic transformation

Fans of TV favourite Michelle Keegan will know her as the talented actor with an enviably effortless aesthetic.

The Our Girl star, 37, has long turned heads with her low-key glamorous look and impressively toned physique.

But experts in cosmetic surgery have pointed out that her current aesthetic is far different to the one she sported when she first beamed on to our screens 17 years a go.

Throwback images of Ms Keegan, shared by aesthetics practitioners on TikTok, reveal a dramatic transformation since the days of playing Tina McIntyre in Coronation Street.

Despite the actor — who is married to former TOWIE star Mark Wright — previously denying undergoing cosmetic ‘tweakments’, experts have now weighed in, speculating that a range of procedures is the likely explanation for her new look.

Fans have long speculated she has undergone aesthetic enhancements, sporting noticeably plumper lips and a contoured chin, with some even labelling her ‘unrecognisable’. Pictured, Keegan earlier this month

Now, cosmetic experts have weighed in, suggesting the actor’s new look is indeed likely a result of aesthetics treatments to change the appearance of her forehead, jaw and nose. Pictured, Keegan in 2011

Beth Drew, an NHS midwife and aesthetics practitioner working in Worcestershire, said in a recent Instagram video that she suspects Ms Keegan has undergone procedures to result in plumper lips and a contoured chin.

Some cosmetic work may also have been done to her upper eyelids, she added.

‘Michelle Keegan is a fantastic example of aesthetics treatments done right,’ she told her 4,000 Instagram followers.

‘Most people look at Michelle Keegan and think wow she is naturally so beautiful and absolutely she is.

‘But there’s not really too much that’s natural about it.

‘However, it does look natural because it’s been done really well.’

Her youthful look could be down to anti-wrinkle injections like Botox around her eyes and forehead, Mrs Drew said, which relaxes the muscles in the face to smooth out lines and wrinkles.

‘In my professional opinion, I think she has had Botox especially around the forehead and the eye — just to open them up a little bit.

‘You can see that in the before photos, her eyes were slightly hooded and in the after photos they are not,’ she told followers in the video.

Beth Drew, an NHS midwife and aesthetics practitioner from Malvern in Worcestershire, also said she suspects the actress may have had ‘tweakments’ to her upper eyelids and chin

‘So Botox can really lift the eyebrows and smooth out any fine line and wrinkles.’

‘I think she may have had a nose job or a non-surgical rhinoplasty using dermal filler.’

For a rhinoplasty, surgeons re-shape the tip of the nose during a complex operation — often by removing some cartilage and soft tissue.

But it does carry the risk of complications, including potential asymmetry or having too much tissue removed — leaving the nose appearing overly pinched.

In recent years non-surgical nose jobs have become popular, which involves filling out bumps with injections of hylauronic acid — the same substance used to plump areas like the lips and cheek.

Despite its popularity, surgeons have previously suggested that using filler at a young age carries multiple risks, including having stretched skin that sags earlier than normal.

In 2018, the actress even revealed to the Sunday Express’ S Magazine that she’s flattered fans speculate over her appearance, but admitted she wouldn’t down the plastic surgery route, saying that she’s ‘scared it would go wrong’. Pictured, Keegan in 2012

Mrs Drew added: ‘She’s definitely had some lip filler, but done really nicely. She’s also had her jaw and her chin contoured.

‘She might not have even had her jaw done.

‘It could just be that she’s had chin filler and that’s elongated her jawline. She just looks stunning.’

Keegan has never publicly confirmed or denied having a rhinoplasty.

She has also never shared whether she’s had non-surgical cosmetic treatments such as fillers or injections like Botox.

In 2015, the Our Girl again spoke about surgery, saying: ‘[The speculation] doesn’t really upset me. People always say, “Have you or haven’t you?”. Pictured with husband Mark Wright in 2019

In an interview with Alan Carr in 2015, she also denied she had her teeth fixed, insisting they were her own. Pictured in 2013

‘But I haven’t and I don’t think I ever would, if I’m being honest. I’m scared it would go wrong.’

In 2015, the Our Girl again spoke about surgery, saying: ‘[The speculation] doesn’t really upset me. People always say, “Have you or haven’t you?”

‘But it’s my business. It’s my face. So what if I have or haven’t? I don’t read it when people speculate about it.’

In an interview with Alan Carr in the same year, she also denied she had her teeth fixed, insisting they were her own.

She declared: ‘Just to say… I have 100 per cent not had my teeth done… They are MY teeth. So I’ll take that as a compliment. Thanks.’

And in 2014, again faced with speculation, her spokesperson denied she had undergone a breast enhancement operation.
