Man City star Rodri’s worst fears confirmed after knee damage in Arsenal draw

Manchester City’s title hopes have been dealt a huge blow following the news Rodri has torn his ACL and could miss the rest of the season.

The midfielder collapsed in agony during Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal after jarring his right knee in the turf.

He limped straight down the tunnel before undergoing scans.

It’s understood he will travel to Barcelona to have an operation to repair the damage.

But the Spanish international is expected to be sidelined for up to eight months.

The news will be devastating for City boss Pep Guardiola. Rodri has been one of his most consistent and influential stars in recent seasons.

He scored the winning goal in the 2023 Champions League final against Inter Milan and drove City to a historic fourth league title on the spin last season.

But Guardiola will now be forced to cope without someone who also helped Spain become European champions this summer, beating England in the final in Berlin.
