First impressions can be a real dealmaker, particularly when meeting in person for the first time. Most play it safe, hiding their quirks and keeping any unusual hobbies under wraps.
But one man didn’t mind sharing his favoured pastime of going to pig races with his Tinder date. Jawn Stockton went viral on TikTok after posting a video of his unorthodox first date activity.
In a video that’s now racked up millions of views, Jawn is captured passionately cheering on sprinting pigs as they race around a track. His date then shows her reaction on camera, where she’s seen laughing to herself.
“This guy from Tinder took me to gamble on pig races for our first date,” the post reads, reports the Manchester Evening News. The caption adds: “He won $50 and used the money to take me out to eat.”
Although gambling at pig races isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, the outing was a hit with thousands of viewers. One chuffed commenter on TikTok wrote: “This actually looks fun as a first date. Nothing too serious, excitement, pigs, food. 5 star date.”
A second admirer swooned: “He’s a keeper.” Another pointed out: “Honestly. Keep him. Lots of ups and downs but he showed you the real him on the first date. That’s more than most.” And a fourth joked: “That ain’t a guy from tinder, that’s your husband.”
Thousands of fans were eager to find out how Jawn’s first date went after the pig races and things worked out for them. In a follow-up video, Jawn revealed that unfortunately, things didn’t pan out for the pair.
Despite saying “the pigs worked” as they had a blast that night, they were at “two different stages” in their lives and “ended on good terms”. He shared: “She was a really nice girl and the few times we spent together were actually filled with great conversations and laughs, but in the end it just didn’t work out being at two different stages in our lives.
“I know she will always remember the guy that took her to a pig race and made himself look crazy for screaming at farm animals just to make her laugh. I have much respect for her and know she has a bright future.” He concluded by saying: “I’m sure our paths will cross again someday. If not, good luck with everything in your future.”
Many people commended Jawn for being so open about the situation. Alfredo said: “This is so real of you to post.” Encar added: “That’s really sweet, brother. Good luck to you.”
A third put: “Real brother and glad u taking it ok tho.” Hamza commented: “Very wise and mature caption good on you bro.” Someone else said: “The caption made me teary eyed.”
