Blackburn Rovers left-back Owen Beck has taken to social media to show off the alleged bite mark he suffered against Preston.
Beck, 22, is on loan at Ewood Park from Liverpool and was sent off in the final seconds of the Championship game after kicking out at Preston forward Duane Holmes. It was later suggested Beck was in fact bitten on the back by Milutin Osmajic, with the Welshman furious at officials for not spotting the alleged incident.
Following the 0-0 draw on Sunday, Blackburn boss John Eustace described it as a “very serious incident” and it has been confirmed the FA are now looking into the alleged bite. While Preston boss Paul Heckingbottom didn’t see the incident, he said that there was no place in the game for biting.

Plenty of Rovers and Liverpool supporters have come out in defence of their man, criticising the officials for ignoring his complaints on the field, even though there was footage of him pointing the mark out. One fan said on X: “Owen Beck trying to tell the linesman that he’s been bit and he’s just ignoring him… officials in this country are useless.”
And now Beck himself has spoken out about the incident, with a picture emerging of the alleged bite mark on social media with the caption “scruffy bastard”.

Osmajic received a yellow card from the on field referee, but it’s likely that was due to the tussle rather than any supposed bite. It remains to be seen whether Beck’s red card will be rescinded, but it’s unlikely given they are two separate incidents.
It’s not the first time a Liverpool player has been involved in a biting incident – Luis Suarez famously received a 10-match ban for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic in 2013. It’s expected if found guilty of biting the FA will come down hard on Osmajic with a similar lengthy suspension.
Beck has been a Liverpool player since the age of 13 and is the great-nephew of club legend and all-time leading goalscorer Ian Rush. He made his Premier League debut for the Reds earlier this year having been recalled earlier from a loan spell due to Liverpool’s injury problems at left-back.
