NFL rookies depart followers feeling ‘so outdated’ after making an attempt to ID 90s objects

A video of Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookies trying to identify items commonly used throughout the 1990s has social media users feeling old after watching it.

Running back Bucky Irving, safety Tykee Smith, linebacker Chris Braswell, and offensive linemen Graham Barton and Elijah Klein were all put up to the task of correctly naming four items.

Some items were easier to identify than others, such as a Power Rangers action figure.

However, at least one of the rookies were stumped an unable to correctly identify a floppy disk (really a diskette), a VHS tape, or a cassette tape.

The video went viral on social media with users on Twitter collectively feeling like they had aged after having seen it.

Buccaneers rookies struggled to identify commonly used items like VHS and cassette tapes

Many 80s and 90s kids were left distraught after seeing the rookies struggle with this task

‘They couldn’t identify a VHS tape, floppy disk, or cassette tape. I feel ancient,’ wrote one user.

Another said, ‘*watches this and immediately applies for AARP membership while softly crying.’

‘when I saw the items they were identifying it hit me like stray gunfire,’ said another user.

Another posted, ‘I don’t think us late/mid 80s-mid 90s babies realize how fortunate we were to experience life RIGHT before the internet but still be [the] first generation to fully utilize the internet.’

While the Buccaneers may not be successful when it comes to correctly guessing the names of commonly used items from three decades ago, they have been finding success on the football field.

Tampa Bay is currently 2-1 in the NFC South division – tied on record with the rival New Orleans Saints.

After winning their first two games of the season against the Washington Commanders and the Detroit Lions, they lost this past Sunday to the Denver Broncos.

They’ll hope to get back on track this coming Sunday when they host the Philadelphia Eagles.
