Wrexham is now Britain’s busiest rental market with 54 enquiries per house

The Welsh town of Wrexham has become one of the most in demand places to live, according to findings.

The former mining town, which became a city last year, is said to be benefitting from the ‘Ryan Reynolds effect’ after he bought Wrexham Football Club and made a hit Netflix show about them.

Since the Deadpool star and fellow Hollywood A-lister Rob McElhenney bought the team in November 2020 it has been turned into a housing hotspot.

Findings from Rightmove’s Demand Tracker showed it is now Britain’s busiest rental market with 54 enquiries per available property, compared to an average of 19 enquiries across the rest of Great Britain.

Tim Bannister, Rightmove’s property expert, said: “To be receiving upwards of 50 enquiries per available rental property in some local areas is an astonishing figure, which goes to show the significant amount of work still to be done to improve the balance of supply and demand across different areas of Great Britain.”
