Arne Slot masterminded a stunning rotation for Liverpool’s Carabao Cup clash with West Ham, making nine changes from the Bournemouth victory and still smashing a 5-1 win.
The Reds are now tantalisingly close to fulfilling Trent Alexander-Arnold’s silverware dreams.
With most of the remaining teams in the Carabao Cup hailing from the Premier League, Liverpool’s path to retaining their title won’t be a walk in the park. But they are brimming with confidence and their cup run could play a pivotal role in convincing Alexander-Arnold that his future remains with Liverpool.

After the 3-0 drubbing of Bournemouth, the 25-year-old defender opened up about his aspirations and contract talks, saying: “I’ve always said that I want to captain the club. That’s a goal of mine but whether that happens is out of my hands to be honest.
“I’ve been at the club 20 years now; I’ve signed four or five contract extensions and none of those have been played out in public. This one won’t be either.
“I want to be a Liverpool player this season [as a minimum]. I want to win trophies; I am a player who is highly motivated by trophies and winning things and being elite.
“So that is probably the main factor of anything, if you have a personality that is elite, who wants to win and will do anything to win then that is what drives me,” Alexander-Arnold confesses, reports Liverpool.com.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s eyes are set on snatching up Premier League and Champions League glory rather than just settling for domestic silverware.
