Belgium’s Queen Mathilde glows as she attends state dinner

Queen Mathilde put on a dazzling display as she arrived at the Elysee Palace for a state dinner on Monday evening.

Alongside King Phillippe, 64, Mathilde, 51, greeted French President Emmanuel Macron and first Lady Brigitte before entering the glitzy Parisian event.

The Belgian royals are currently on a state visit to France, following an invitation to celebrate Franco-Belgian cultural ties and the shared views on European issues.

The mother-of-four looked elegant in a high-neck velour floor-length gown in a deep blue shade.

She styled her blonde tresses in a sophisticated updo and opted for a glamorous makeup look for the occasion, complete with a touch of pink lipstick.

King Philippe looked equally tasteful in a dapper black suit, matching tie, and crisp white shirt.

The Belgian royals greeted Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron outside the event before posing on the steps for photographs.

Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and his wife Annik Penders also attended the state dinner hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife in honour of Belgium’s King Philippe and Queen Mathilde.

French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin and his wife, Rose-Marie Devillers were also on the state dinner guest list.

Once inside the presidential Elysee Palace, Macron addressed attendees with a speech.

It comes after Mathilde earlier today stepped out in a sensational cherry red ensemble as she met with Emmanuel and Brigitte. 

She was joined by her husband Philippe in Paris, where the two greeted the French President before attending a ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe.

The royals shook hands with the French politician, posing for pictures alongside him and his wife outside the French landmark in the capital.

The mother-of-four wore a long sleeved red blouse with buttons running from the collar to just below the waist.

The red blouse was pulled in at the waist and worn elegantly with a long skirt in the same colour, shielding the royals’ legs from the October chill.

She completed the look with a pair of suede gloves in the same autumnal shade, and a pair of chic cherry red stilettos.

Phillippe and Macron were pictured reviving the flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, located at the Arc de Triomphe.

French military watched from the side as the eternal flame was relit, a daily ceremony, which has preserved which has preserved the burning fire since 1923.

In the afternoon, Mathilde visited the Palais Garnier opera house to observe a dance class before attending a lunch with Philippe, French Prime Minister Michel Barnier and his wife, Isabella Altmayer. 

It comes after the Belgium royals hosted Pope Francis, 87, last month, during the pontiff visit to the nation. 

The trip to Belgium marked the last leg of the pontiff’s trip to ‘the heart of Europe’ where he discussed the continent’s role in the world.

On the final day of his trip to the European nation, Belgium royals joined as the pope headed Sunday mass. 

Also joining the occasion was Princess Delphine – formerly known as Delphine Boël – marking an important progression in her journey to gain recognition for her royal heritage.

The royals were pictured look animated as they greeted each other at the service, their face lit up in smiles as they shared an affection hold.

Also joining for the service was Mathilde’s husband, King Philippe, along with their eldest son, Prince Gabriel.

Mathilde donned an all white ensemble, similar to the snow white suit she wore on Friday on the second day of the Pope’s weekend visit to Belgium. 

The frock featured a long sleeved blazer buttoned up to the neck, and a long pleated skirt worn below the knee.

She accessorised with a chunky red bracelet, stylish sunglasses and a necklace which featured a gold love heart with the word ‘love’ written in the middle of it.

She appeared makeup free and wore her golden locks down, combed neatly out of her face.
