A female prison officer at a men’s jail in Wales was today accused of having an illicit relationship with a prisoner.

Jessica McCleary, 28, from Froncysyllte, Llangollen, faced Wrexham magistrates charged with misconduct in public office. The alleged relationship took place at Berwyn jail, Wrexham, with inmate Levi Weekes.

The court heard allegations that McCleary had entered into a relationship with Weekes between October 25 and November 4 last year.
